We are excited to announce that our Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab will be relocating from City University of Hong Kong to the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) at the University of Toronto in Summer 2025. Our lab continues to focus on cutting-edge projects in hybrid locomotion, bio-inspired robotics, physical intelligence, and adaptive morphology. PhD Positions for Fall 2025
The Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab at the University of Toronto invites exceptional undergraduate and master students with a background in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines to apply for PhD positions starting in Fall 2025. We are looking for 1-2 highly motivated students to join our research in Robotics, Bio-Inspired Robots, and Micro Aerial Vehicles.
Research areas include but are not limited to:
Bio-Inspired Robotics
Micro Aerial Vehicles
Locomotion
Adaptive Morphology and Physical Intelligence
Requirements and Application Information
Candidates holding a Master’s degree are expected to complete their PhD in four years, while those entering the program directly with a Bachelor’s degree (Direct Entry PhD) are expected to complete the PhD in five years. Full-time PhD students receive funding support during the program. Exceptional domestic Canadian students and international students with external fellowships (such as China Scholarship Council scholarships) are particularly encouraged to apply.
